Erin's wedding

We made it back from Rockport for Erin's wedding and we're trying to all get over jet lag. Riley was up at 5:00 this morning, apparently she's still on east coast time. Everything turned out beautiful, including the weather (it downpoured for about an hour during Erin's lobster bake for the rehearsal dinner the night before). The day of the wedding was blue skies and in the 80s. Despite Erin's worries about everything, it all went perfect. Riley's role as flower girl was the entertainment portion of the ceremony. When we told her to drop her flower petals she did exactly that, but poured them out in one step. Everyone laughed and clapped for her, so she was pretty excited and told me when she got to the end of the aisle, "Mama, I dropped my flowers down there!" Poor Jarom had to watch over her most of the time and missed the vows, sand ceremony, and a few other moments since Riley needed a potty break right in the middle. Riley danced the night away... I have no idea where she got the energy, but she was up until the band stopped playing. Anyway, we had a great time out on Erin and Sean's boat, going to the beach, and watching Jarom go tubing. CONGRATULATIONS little sister!!

Riding her first bike

We were at Babies R' Us the other day looking around at things we might have to get for the new baby. Meanwhile, Riley found a bike in one of the aisles and just started whizzing around the store. It was fun to see her finally learning how to pedal, but it was a nightmare trying to get her out of that store. So here she is with the bike Aunt Erin & Uncle Sean got her last fall out on our deck.

Riley's Big Girl Bed

So I was completely bored yesterday and thought, "Let's convert Riley's crib into a bed finally." So I did and she was so excited to sleep in her new bed that night. I was afraid that this might lead to countless nights of fighting with her to stay in bed, but when Jarom put her down she fell fast asleep. And as I'm writing she's taking a nice long nap! I should've thought of this sooner ;)

Utah family vacation

So we spent our vacation at Aspen Grove in Utah with the Eberhard family. It was a beautiful area and we got plenty of sunshine. Unfortunately, we spent the first half of the week trying to figure out why Riley got hives all over her body. So we went to urgent care and she was on steroids for the rest of the week. We had a good time just hanging out with everyone! Greg, Kista, Jordan, Ammon, Jalen, Aaron, Avery, Madysen, Sophie, and of course Grandpa and Grandma. Riley really started warming up to everyone and loved hanging out with her cousins.

It's a...

GIRL!! We found out today that we're having another drama queen! We're very excited, especially Jarom since he wanted Riley to have a sister. I think I was so sure that we were having a boy that I mentally prepared myself and now I'm just in shock. She looked perfect on the ultrasound and even had her legs up and over her head...future gymnast maybe? She was measuring out with long legs just like her big sis'. Looks like we might have some future basketball players. Here's just a 1 minute part of the video (I'll post the rest on the side). Now we just have to think of names.

Where to begin?

It's hard to choose what stories to write about when you first start a blog. So I guess I'll start at the beginning of how the Eberhard family came to be.
Moving to Colorado I never imagined I would find the person I would soon fall in love with. I moved there mainly to be in a beautiful state that I had once visited as a teenager and of course to go to grad school. On November 30th, 2002, Jarom and I were married in a little chapel in Golden, CO. It was the most beautiful sunny Colorado day despite the cold air. It all turned out exactly as I had pictured my wedding when I was little. Lots of candles, the sun setting behind the mountains, surrounded by family and friends, and finding my best friend.

My first blog

Ok, so Gail has been talking about how wonderful it is to have a blog and can't get off the computer. So I guess I'll try it. Let's see what's new with us. Well, if you don't already know we're adding on to our little family in November. We'll find out the sex of the baby July 10th, so stay tuned. We're so excited for Riley to have a sibling. The way I told Jarom about the baby is a pretty cute story...
I decided to involve Riley in some way, which always makes for an interesting twist. It was around Easter so I bought some little plastic chics that open up and are empty inside. I typed out on a piece of paper "I'm going to be a big sister!" and folded it up inside. When Jarom got home from work I had Riley bring the little chick to him so he would open it. Instead, she brought it to him and he just glanced at it, end of story. So I had to tell him to open it for her. So he opened it and out popped this piece of paper onto the floor. He was expecting candy to come out so he said to Riley, "Oh, it's just a piece of paper, sorry" Again I had to intervene, "What does it say?"
So he finally opened it up and read it. He had this puzzled look on his face and read it out loud. "What is this?" he said. "Are you pregnant?" with a big smile across his face...

It was really cute and something we'll always remember.
